Description
La Charte canadienne des droits et libertés possède toujours un potentiel inexploité. Ce Symposium générera des connaissances qui fourniront de meilleures armes aux groupes en quête d’égalité et aux communautés de langue officielle en situation minoritaire qui se battent pour faire reconnaître leurs droits et libertés. Cet événement est organisé sous les auspices du Humanities Research Group de l’Université de Windsor et financé par le Conseil de recherches en sciences humaines.

Agenda
Le Symposium consistera de trois panels. Le premier panel se penchera sur la question de l’accès à la justice sous la Charte. Le second panel explorera comment les droits de la personne protégés par la Charte peuvent être étendus pour aider les groupes vulnérables (articles 2 et 15). Quant au troisième panel, il se concentrera sur la façon d’élargir l’étendue des droits linguistiques pour les communautés de langue officielle en situation minoritaire (articles 16 à 23 de la Charte). Les participant.e.s, qu’elles/ils soient en personne ou en ligne, pourrons prendre part à autant de panels qu’ils veulent. Le Symposium se terminera avec une séance de réseautage. Interprétation simultanée
Une interprétation simultanée français-anglais sera offerte à tou.te.s les participant.e.s pour qu’elles/ils puissent parler et écouter dans leur langue officielle préférée, que ce soit en personne ou en ligne.

The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms continues to have untapped potential. This Symposium will generate knowledge that will better equip equality-seeking groups and official language minority communities who strive to have their rights and freedoms recognized. This event is hosted by the Humanities Research Group at the University of Windsor and funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council.

Schedule
The Symposium will consist of three panels. The first panel will tackle access to justice under the Charter. The second panel will explore how human rights protected by the Charter can be expanded to aid vulnerable groups (sections 2 and 15), while the third panel will focus on how to increase the scope of language rights for official language minority communities (sections 16 to 23 of the Charter). Participants, whether they are present in person or virtually, can attend as many panels as they want. The Symposium will end with a networking session. Simultaneous Interpretation
Simultaneous interpretation in French and English will be provided, allowing audience members to speak and listen in their preferred official language, whether in person or online.
