Prix de la relève Ronald L. Watts
En 2014, l’International Association of Centres for Federal Studies (IACFS) a créé le Prix de la relève de l’IACFS, un prix annuel récompensant le meilleur article ou essai sur un aspect du fédéralisme rédigé par un jeune chercheur. En 2015, ce prix a été renommé en l’honneur de Ronald L. Watts.
Admissibilité
Seuls les chercheurs recommandés par un centre membre de l’IACFS sont éligibles. Cela inclut les chercheurs à temps plein, les étudiants de maîtrise, de doctorat et postdoctoraux, ainsi que les anciens étudiants. La limite d’âge est fixée à 35 ans au moment de la soumission de la candidature.
Les candidats sont invités à soumettre un article de format universitaire (8 000 – 10 000 mots) portant sur un aspect du fédéralisme. Le sujet n’a pas besoin d’être lié au thème du colloque annuel de l’IACFS. L’article doit être un travail original rédigé en anglais. Il peut avoir été soumis pour publication ou publié au cours des douze mois précédant la soumission.
Processus de candidature
Le candidat soumet son article au directeur d’un centre membre de l’IACFS, qui peut proposer jusqu’à trois candidats. Le directeur transmet ensuite les candidatures et les articles par courriel à ronaldwattsaward@eurac.edu avant le 30 avril 2025.
Prix
Le lauréat du prix 2025 recevra un billet d’avion aller-retour pour assister au colloque annuel de l’IACFS à Mexico, Mexique (en septembre 2025), trois nuits d’hébergement et un certificat officiel. Le lauréat sera invité à présenter son article lors de la conférence.

Ronald L. Watts Young Researcher Award
In 2014, the International Association of Centres for Federal Studies (IACFS) established the Young Scholar Award, an annual prize for the best article or paper on an aspect of federalism by a young researcher. In 2015, this award was renamed in honor of Ronald L. Watts.
Eligibility
Only researchers endorsed and nominated by an IACFS member centre are eligible. This includes full-time researchers, master’s, doctoral, and postdoctoral students, as well as former students. The age limit is 35 years at the time of submitting the application.
Applicants are invited to submit a journal-length article (8,000 – 10,000 words) on a topic related to an aspect of federalism. The topic does not need to be linked to the theme of the IACFS annual conference. The paper must be an original work and written in English. It may have already been submitted for publication or published within the past twelve months preceding the submission.
Process
The applicant submits their paper to the director of an IACFS member centre, who may nominate up to three candidates. The director then submits the nominations and papers via email to ronaldwattsaward@eurac.edu by 30 April 2025.
Award
For 2025, the award comprises a return flight to the IACFS annual conference in Mexico City, Mexico, in September 2025, plus three nights of accommodation, and a certificate. The award winner will be invited to present their paper at the conference.
